My Venture- Swayam Life Skills

Swayam Life Skills started as a seed of thought. I don't remember the exact moment that seed took birth. A decade into my career, I found myself wanting more. I turned to many books ;one of them being "You can heal your Life "- by Louise.L.Hay. I started working on my life to make it more meaningful and tried to focus on my own thoughts to create the life of my dreams. And as I did that, I found that I ended up helping a lot of people find themselves too.

I knew nothing about Life Coaching, and yet this voice in my head said, I am going to be a Life Coach!

Working on myself, and making changes in my life wasn't enough to make me a Life Coach. I wanted to have the right qualifications, the right tools to empower people with.

I started this journey of qualifying myself in July 2011. It was no surprise that I would once again turn to the book which got me started on this journey. I wanted to take the teachings of the book to everyone, and so I became a Licensed Heal your Life Workshop Leader. It was a seven day residential program in the United Kingdom. I went there on a leap of faith, investing my own hard earned money and time.

It was the best investment I have ever made. The seed of Swayam had now started to take shape. I came away armed with a clear vision of what I wanted to do. And yet, I knew the battle had only begun.

I realised that this certification might be looked upon by people as a little too spiritual , and I wanted to take it to the corporate world too. So, I took another leap of faith, and signed up for an Executive Coach certification by Results Coaching Systems.

And yet while all this was happening, I was mustering up the courage to quit my banking job. It ticked a lot of boxes for me, but somehow didn't make me tick! Read more on how I made my decision  here.

It was done. I had the most crucial conversation of my life with my boss. He was understanding, and yet I knew he felt let down. But talking to him, and explaining him why I was leaving, made it clearer in my head.

He asked me to think for a week, and then finally make it official if I still wanted to. I went home, and a day later, discovered I was expecting my second child!

My first thought was, "Manage my own venture, AND a baby??? Impossible! The easier thing to do was just continue my job, take my paid maternity leave, and decide after the baby was born.

And yet, that voice in my head persisted. It was NOW or NEVER. This was divine timing. What better time would it be to raise both my babies together( of course along with my first born). Nurturing my child within would ensure that my pace of nurturing Swayam too would be slow and steady.

And just like that, I became a Momtrepreneur! It has been more than 2 years, and Swayam Life Skills is older than my second born Arjun by 2 and a half months. But I have tried to nurture them both to the best of my abilities.

I completed my Coaching Certifications with a baby in my tummy , gave exams while managing breast feeding schedules, and today I am a Results Certified Coach, and one step away from receiving an accreditation from the International Coaching Federation.

It has been a long journey, both physically and emotionally demanding. Yet one, in which I have grown the most.
